The word “crystal” comes from the Ancient Greek krystallos meaning 'Ice'. In Christianity, crystals were often mentioned in their writings and used to decorate important religious objects. It was thought that crystals manifested beyond the normal or physical level and the light of the heavens. The first historical references to the use of crystals came from the Ancient Sumerians, who included crystals in their magic formulas. Crystals were also used for healing in traditional Chinese Medicine, which dates back 5000 years.
How To Choose A Crystal:
Choose a crystal that you feel drawn to. This comes down to your own intuition!
Pick one that might catch your eye or just feels great to hold.
Choose a crystal that may help you with a problem you may have like stress or matters of the heart or even to increase you energy levels.
How To Use Your Crystals:
Holding your crystal is the most common. You can wear them in a little wire cage that enables you to change your crystals as you wish. You can use them during meditation. You can bathe with them, use them in an elixir but be careful some crystals like Malachite can not be used in an elixir or water as it will damage the stone and release toxic fumes and make the elixir toxic. You can hang them or place it next to an item like a computer at work to alleviate stress.
Cleansing Your Crystals
Regularly cleansing and recharging your stones is the only way to restore your crystal to its natural state. This is important to ensure your crystal is working efficiently. Just remember that if your crystal is not one for water use one of the other techniques. If you feel your crystal is heavy then it is time to re energise your crystal.
Put them on a windowsill on a full moon to recharge.
Rain is a way to cleanse them with water as it has no chemicals but you can also cleanse them under running water.
Place them into sea salt water
Smudge them with a sage stick.
You can bury them in the ground and let the earth soak up any impurities. But with the way our earth is these days and chemicals seeping into the ground is it wise to do so?
Use a cleansing crystal like selenite to cleanse the crystal by placing it on the crystal.
